Understanding PlatedUp Charges
PlatedUp uses transparent, fixed hourly pricing. Before you confirm a booking, you'll see the estimated cost based on PlatedUp's fixed $25/hour Cook-service rate.
What can appear on your charge
- Cook-service time at PlatedUp's fixed $25/hour rate, with a $25 minimum. Above the minimum, pricing uses your actual calculated service time rather than fixed time blocks.
- PlatedUp's service fee of $3.99 per applicable booking.
- A $10 grocery pickup fee, only if you choose to have your Cook pick up a prepaid grocery order — see How Grocery Pickup Works. This fee is paid to your Cook, not retained by PlatedUp.
- The cost of your groceries themselves, paid separately to the retailer or delivery service you choose — PlatedUp doesn't sell or bundle grocery costs into its own charges.
- Applicable taxes, when required, shown before you submit your request.
- An optional tip for your Cook — starting at $0 until you choose an amount. See Tips.
Your first confirmed booking
PlatedUp waives the $3.99 service fee on your first confirmed booking. A request that never becomes confirmed does not use this benefit — if your first request doesn't get a Cook, is canceled while still pending, or fails payment before confirmation, you keep the waiver for your next eligible booking. Once a booking reaches confirmed status, the waiver is considered used, even if that booking is later canceled.
Only the $3.99 PlatedUp service fee is waived. Your Cook-service charge, the $10 grocery pickup fee if you select it, the cost of your groceries, applicable taxes, and any tip you choose still apply.
Good to know
No subscription or membership is required to book on PlatedUp — you pay for the bookings you make.
If you see a charge you don't recognize or a duplicate-looking pending charge, see Authorization Holds before contacting your bank.
