Can I Book Recurring Meal Prep?

Yes. You can set up weekly recurring meal prep with a Cook on PlatedUp. Once your Cook accepts the recurring schedule, PlatedUp creates your upcoming weekly bookings automatically until you end the series. Recurring meal prep is optional — one-time bookings remain available, and there's no required PlatedUp membership.

How weekly recurring meal prep works

When you set up Repeat weekly for meal prep with a Cook, that recurring schedule is with that specific Cook. Once they accept it, PlatedUp creates your upcoming weekly bookings automatically, using the same Cook, day, time, and booking details until something changes.

Each weekly visit remains its own separate PlatedUp booking — with its own confirmation, payment, and cancellation rights — not one long booking or a multi-week contract.

Is it the same Cook each week?

Your recurring series stays with the Cook who accepted it. We can't promise a Cook will be available forever — if your Cook becomes unavailable for a future week, we'll let you know so you can choose another available Cook or set up a new recurring arrangement where supported. PlatedUp won't silently switch you to a different Cook without telling you.

If your Cook can't perform an already confirmed occurrence, that's handled under the usual Cook cancellation protections — see What If My Cook Cancels?

How am I charged?

Each weekly occurrence is paid for separately, using the payment method you authorize for your recurring series — this isn't one upfront payment for multiple weeks. PlatedUp processes each upcoming weekly booking on its own before your scheduled visit.

Recurring bookings use PlatedUp's normal pricing: a fixed $25/hour Cook-service rate with a $25 minimum, plus PlatedUp's $3.99 service fee per booking. Above the minimum, pricing follows your calculated service time, without rounding to fixed time blocks. There's no recurring surcharge, membership fee, minimum weekly commitment, or discount for being on a recurring schedule.

If PlatedUp later materially changes the Cook-service rate or service fee for an existing recurring series, you'll get clear notice in advance and need to confirm you want to continue at the new pricing before it applies to your next occurrence. An occurrence you've already confirmed keeps its original price.

What if my payment doesn't go through?

If the payment for an upcoming weekly occurrence doesn't go through, PlatedUp lets you know and gives you a chance to update your payment method — see Failed Payments. Your recurring series stays active; a failed payment for one week doesn't end it.

If payment still hasn't gone through by the time that occurrence needs to be confirmed, that specific occurrence won't proceed as a confirmed booking — there's no cancellation fee for an occurrence that never confirmed — but future weeks continue unless you end the series.

Can I skip a week?

Yes. Skipping a specific occurrence is different from ending your recurring series — skipping just that week doesn't stop future weeks.

If the occurrence hasn't become a confirmed booking yet, skipping it has no cancellation fee. Once an occurrence is confirmed, the normal cancellation policy applies — see Canceling an Order.

Can I change one week?

Yes — a single occurrence can be changed the same way as any confirmed booking, subject to your Cook's agreement where required. See Changing Your Booking for how date, time, meal, and other changes work.

Can I change my weekly schedule?

You can request to change your recurring template — like your regular day or time — for future weeks. Since your Cook accepted the original schedule, they need to agree to the new one too, and the change applies going forward rather than to a booking you've already confirmed. An already confirmed occurrence is changed separately under the normal booking-change process.

How do I stop recurring meal prep?

You can end your recurring series at any time to stop future, not-yet-confirmed occurrences — there's no separate fee just for ending future recurrence. Ending the series doesn't automatically cancel a booking you've already confirmed; you manage that one separately under the normal cancellation policy.

What about groceries?

Recurring meal prep doesn't change how groceries work. For each occurrence, you can use what you already have, arrange delivery, or set up a prepaid grocery pickup order for your Cook, the same as any booking — see Who Buys the Groceries? Recurring meal prep doesn't create an automatic grocery order.

Recurring Meal Prep vs. Meal Prep for 1–5 Days

These solve different things. Recurring meal prep means your Cook comes back for a new in-home cooking session each week. Meal Prep for 1–5 Days means a single booked session where your Cook prepares meals meant to cover several days — your Cook doesn't visit daily just because the food is meant to last. You can combine both: for example, a recurring Sunday booking where your Cook prepares several days of meals during that one weekly visit. See Meal Prep for 1–5 Days.

Good to know

If you'd rather manually schedule a new booking with a Cook you've used before instead of setting up a recurring series, see Booking the Same Cook Again.

Eligible PlatedUp Credit can be applied to an upcoming occurrence when you choose to use it — being on a recurring schedule doesn't use your Credit automatically. See Refunds for how PlatedUp Credit works.
