Changing Your Booking

You can request to change a confirmed booking — like its date, time, or the meals you've selected — but a confirmed booking is an agreement between you and your Cook, so most changes need your Cook to accept them before they take effect.

Can I change a confirmed booking?

Yes — you can request a change to a confirmed booking directly from your booking in the PlatedUp app. Your original booking stays active exactly as confirmed until your Cook accepts the requested change; sending a request doesn't change your booking by itself.

Changing the date or time

If you request a new date or time more than 24 hours before your current scheduled start, there's no PlatedUp rescheduling fee. The new time still needs to work with your Cook's schedule and PlatedUp's normal scheduling requirements, and your Cook needs to accept it. We can't promise every requested time will be available or automatically approved — if your Cook can't accept the new time, your original booking remains unchanged.

Last-minute changes

You can still request a date or time change less than 24 hours before your booking, but your Cook needs to explicitly agree. If they do, your booking can move to the new time without being charged the normal $25 late-cancellation amount just for making that approved change.

If your Cook doesn't agree to a last-minute change, your original booking stays active — you can keep it as scheduled, or cancel it. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, the normal late cancellation policy applies — see Canceling an Order.

Rescheduling isn't a way to avoid the late cancellation fee. If you reschedule specifically to move a booking outside the 24-hour window and then cancel it right away, PlatedUp may still apply the cancellation policy that reasonably reflects the original timing. For a genuine, good-faith reschedule, your cancellation timing is evaluated against the newly confirmed time going forward.

If your Cook requests a different time

Your Cook may propose a different time for your booking, but they can't move your confirmed booking without your agreement. If you decline and your Cook can still perform the original booking, nothing changes. If you decline and your Cook says they can no longer make the original time, that's treated as a Cook-side cancellation — you get the same protections described in What If My Cook Cancels?, not a customer cancellation.

Changing meals or booking length

You can request to change what you've booked — like adding or removing meals, or adjusting the length of your session. Cook-service pricing is based on the service time calculated for your selected meals, at PlatedUp's fixed $25/hour rate, with a $25 minimum. Above the minimum, pricing uses the calculated service time without rounding to fixed time blocks.

A material change — one that meaningfully affects timing, ingredients, equipment, or the scope of your booking — needs your Cook to accept it, the same as a new booking.

If an accepted change more than 24 hours before your booking reduces the Cook-service amount, the difference is released or refunded. If a reduction is requested less than 24 hours before your booking, up to $25 of the removed value may be retained as a late-change amount, with the rest released or refunded — for example, reducing a 4-hour ($100) booking to 2 hours ($50) with less than a day's notice could retain up to $25 of that $50 difference, with the remainder released or refunded. Either way, your final Cook-service charge never exceeds your original amount.

Adding meals or time works the same way — your Cook needs to accept the added work, and you'll pay the resulting additional Cook-service amount at the normal rate. Adding time inside 24 hours doesn't itself create a late-change charge, but your Cook isn't required to accept extra work at the last minute.

Changing the address

Changing your booking address is a material change, not a simple detail edit — it can affect service-area eligibility, travel time, and your Cook's schedule. Your Cook needs to accept an address change, and the new address needs to pass PlatedUp's normal scheduling and service-area checks. Until that happens, your original address stays in effect. If a new address can't be accommodated, you can keep your original booking or cancel it under the normal cancellation policy — we can't automatically move your booking to a different Cook.

Changing grocery pickup details

Changing your pickup store, location, or window may also need to be revalidated against scheduling. Updating your PlatedUp booking doesn't automatically update or cancel a separate order with a retailer, Instacart, or another delivery service — you're responsible for updating or canceling those directly with that provider.

If your change isn't accepted

If your Cook doesn't accept a requested change, your original booking remains active exactly as it was. You can keep it, request a different change, or cancel under the normal cancellation policy.

There's no fixed limit on how many times you can reasonably request a change, but PlatedUp may review repeated, excessive, or abusive change requests.

After your booking has started

Once your Cook has started your booking, the remaining time isn't something that can simply be rescheduled to another day. If something comes up during your booking — like a delay or interruption — see Preparing Your Kitchen Before a Booking or contact PlatedUp Support.
